Regardless of the advice he was given, Tipperary farmer, John Commins, was determined to keep farming beef. So much so that he travelled to Italy to find a more profitable breed.
There, he discovered Piedmontese cattle, an intriguing breed with a double-muscled physique. Helen Carroll meets John on his farm to find out about the challenges of acclimatizing his herd to the Irish weather, and the benefits from a growing market in Ireland for a leaner cut of beef.
