Weight increase:

Better known as Growth Rate in Ireland, it is calculated on the basis of monthly weights of bulls taken during their performance test. 11 weights are used for each animal.

Birth Ease:

The genetic value of an animal according to it’s aptitude to generate easy calving. In Ireland this would be similar to Direct Calving Difficulty, i.e. use a bull with a high figure for Birth Ease on heifers/young cows.

Calving Ease:

The genetic value of an animal according to it’s aptitude to generate dams with good calving ability. This would be similar to Maternal Calving Difficulty, i.e. use a bull with a high figure for Calving Ease if you want good replacement heifers with good maternal calving ability.
